The Incredibles

Watched it on Friday night and I thought I’d give a rather quick review. My biggest beef with animated ‘Disney’ movies nowadays is that they’re all fairly formulaic. I mean, grab a unique setting or even using different parts of the same setting (e.g. A Shark’s Tale, Finding Nemo, etc.), throw in a generic story (e.g. someone gets lost, they have to go find them, save the day, etc. etc.), have the obligatory celebrity voices, and you have another ‘hit’ movie. I don’t really have anything against these kinds of movies, but I’m rather tired of people telling me how good the movie is when it’s really the same thing over again.

So does The Incredibles fall into this category? Well, yes and no. The story was alright, but it still had that generic feel to it. The characters were quirky enough, and the children were portrayed fairly well I thought; relating to what many kids may or may not be going through, but in the end it was another 'unite the family' type of movie. Although, I guess I shouldn't expect any more from these kinds of movies... haha. The premise was rather unique though, and the overall presentation was done pretty well. Anyway, overall the movie was pretty good, but I wouldn’t say it was amazing or anything. 6.5/10 (that’s pretty good for me).

Which gets me thinking. Maybe I’m too critical on movies. ‘Cause really, I don’t end up liking a lot of movies that some other people enjoy just because I think about it and analyze it too much. Many I should just not care and take the surface value for all of them. Nah.

Anyway, Easter weekend was aaaaaaaight. Good times with family and friends. I need more short weeks like that. And no, I didn’t get today off. Hmph. Oh well…
