What a weekend
LCCF Retreat this past weekend was awesome to say the least. It was far too short, but I guess there’s not much we could do with the scheduling most of us had. Anyway, here’s a short recap.
I left Toronto after a meeting at NTCBC with my PC for Josiah at around 7:45pm. I had picked up a friend of Sam’s along the way to church (Adrian), so I knew the trip up would at least be interesting, 'cause as we all know, the stretch of highway between here and Waterloo isn’t exactly scenic at night. Adrian’s from Singapore and is here at Queen’s on exchange. Cool guy with lots of insight into the dynamics of fellowships and small groups. Anyway, after picking up a few things at Food Basics, we were off to Edgewood. Traffic was moderate, with no major slowdowns, but it was enough to not let me go my *ahem* usual *ahem* pace. We got there at around 9pm and joined the rest of the group after they had already finished the opening events. We split the group into 4 teams where we found out that we’d be assigned points based on the success of the games and activities that we played. There were obviously repercussions for the winning and losing teams at the end of the retreat. Good times all around. We actually slept pretty early that night as we knew Saturday was going to be a long day.
I’ll keep Saturday fairly short… as I’m sure you’ll read about what happened on other blogs. Lots of food (as in, way too much food), lots of fun. The ‘Underground Chinese Church’ game was particularly interesting. It was an outdoor game that was a combination of capture the flag and cops and robbers. It wasn’t too cold so I think most people had a pretty good time. Great workshops and bible studies also broke from all the shenanigans, so it was a good mix of seriousness and tomfoolery. Skipping ahead though, our team (Team Fourse, ‘cause we were team number four… wow, we’re so creative!) won and Team Sarah Ong Bak (I think that’s their name?) tied for last with Team Amazing Awesomeness (I think...). The tie-breaker put TSOB in last place, so for punishment, our team was to write down anything we wanted them to do, and they’d have to do it (after passing a filter for cleanliness). There was some good stuff like Evelyn having to preach like a Gospel preacher, Justin having to drink a cup of ketchup (LOL), Adrian doing a rendition of Enrique, and Sarah trying to ‘breakdance’. Oh man, pure jokes. The two best parts though… oh boy, I think I’ll let the pictures speak for themselves. They’ll be up tonight or tomorrow. You’ll see… Hahahahahahahahaha….
I guess this blog wasn’t so short after all. And there was much more that happened than just what I wrote. But I guess I’ll save that for another time.
Oh… GT4
