"Man, what a mind job." - Cipher
[Please note that my mind is a mess right now... more organized thoughts after the movie really sinks in.]
Some background first. Sunday I saw the original Matrix (yes... I watch a lot of movies, but in my defense, I do so while I code. It relaxes me... or so I'd like to think), and I saw Reloaded again today at 4:00pm. Lined up at around 8:45pm (decent, considering how long we waited for other movies). It doesn't really hit me that I'm about to see what could be the one of the best finales to a trilogy ever made, or one of the biggest dissappointments I've ever endured. So we get in, find our PRIME seats. Still doesn't hit me. Useless inane chatter for 20 minutes or so. Lights go out. Adrenaline. My heart is racing, I've waited a long time for this (but also because I'm worried I'd see an ROTK trailer, which I didn't, thank goodness).
The movie comes... the movie goes...
[[Possible spoilers, again, my mind is a mess]] Impressions? I first have to say this, from the initial Warner Bros. logo to the credits, I enjoyed the movie, "...through and through, balls to bones." At no point in the movie was I bored (like some other movies, ahem ahem, X2). Overall though? Well, initially when the movie ended, I felt really dry and sorta in want. I was definitely not what I had expected. But I've come to understand that that was a good thing. The more and more I thought about it, and still think about it, the better and better the movie becomes. They explained everything, and I mean EVERYTHING. Seriously, I had some questions going in about the whole premise, aspects of the second movie, etc. etc., but they were all answered. Yes, to some like Mike it was dissappointing that they in fact did that (didn't really leave with something unresolved), but it was great man. And the action... oh my... just one word: sick. The dock scene, the smith fight, and Seraph... Seraph is a BAD MAN!!! All-in-all I don't think I've even gotten half of everything that went on throughout the trilogy. I'll of course have to watch it in IMAX, but not anytime soon. I need my brain to be remotely functional for finals. Overall, 9/10 (and I don't really give out a lot of those). Same for the trilogy as a whole.
