Thanksgiving Weekend
I had a pretty good weekend, all things considered. Didn't start off in the best way, but still, 'twas good. The ride home was taxing to say the least. It seems that there was some order by the Prime Minister or something that everyone that had a car had to have that car on the 401 on Friday afternoon. Seriously, it was brutal. A ride that usually takes around an hour, this one took nearly 3. Man. It also didn't help that we were picked up in our crappy Taurus (for those of you who don't know about our woes, I'll blog sometime later about this whole Ford fiasco), and there were 5 people in the car. That was pretty much how I spent Friday...
'Cept for the visitation for Kenneth and Matt's grandfather who had passed away last Monday morning. The service on Saturday morning was very nice indeed, with all of the family plus many many friends there to pay our last respects. It was very encouraging to see their our family together, and although I'm sure there is still lots of pain, things definitely seem to be on the mend for them. I spent the rest of Saturday at home just relaxing and getting some much needed rest. That and planting myself in front of the TV (something I never do anymore since we don't have cable) watching the ALCS/NLCS and the hockey game. Yes, I know baseball's really boring, but it's actually pretty good come playoff time. But what the hell is wrong with the Leafs? I seriously thought it was a replay of their pathetic effort in game 7 last year. I seriously hope they pick it up, or the rest of the hop lies in the Raps... and even though they've had a good preseason so far, it's the Raps we're talking about...
Had a really good Thanksgiving dinner on Sunday night. The whole family was back for a much needed home cooked turkey dinner (including "ah shloh"). It's always good to be able to fight for food, and overeating so that none of your siblings would be able to take food back home. Of course, that never works 'cause there's always too much food anyway, but still, it was good. Headed over to Mike's place for another one of his holiday parties. Much smaller scale this time around, probably dince most people had family dinners and such, but I was still able to see a lot of people I don't usually get to.
Anyway, back in the 'loo now. Left Toronto at aobut 11:00am but for some reason, traffic really hates us. Apparently there was some garbage truck that flipped over on the 401 near guelph and the cars were backed up for miles. Didn't actually get here till about 1pm. Oh well, no matter.... Having dinner right now actually. My mom gave me a massive amount of everything, so I'm thoroughly stuffed yet again. All this turkey and... ummm.... beverage... is going to make my pass out. Pure itis man. Now to go stu- -thump- oukjliiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii
