3 Days

....

Anyway, the term is starting to wind down already. Only 4 weeks of classes left.. I think I can see the light at the end of the tunnel. Still lots of work to do though. Our major business assignment for BU288 is due in two weeks. Surprisingly enough, our group is way ahead of schedule and should have everything done by the end of the week. Yippee. Everything else is pretty much the same, you know, the boring coding assignments. Ugh.

Kill Bill. I had heard sorta mixed reviews about it. A lot of people liked it, said it was really good. Some people didn't like it for various reasons. The only real constant, and everyone agreed (including myself) is that it is very gory. Having taken that into consideration, I decided to watch it today (through the magic of BitTorrent). 5/10, tops. I found it to be rather disappointing actually. After all, this is a Tarantino flick. But really, what does that mean? Yes, Pulp Fiction was one of the best movies I've seen, probably because it was the first of its style that I had seen. I think just because of the fact people knew that he directed the movie, they were immediately biased towards it and would think that it would at least be good, if not great. Oh I beg to differ. [[SPOILERS]] The movie had no real substance. More than half of the movie was spent in needless violence. It seems to me that Tarantino's whole angle on the movie was to push blood and gore as far as it would go, with gratuitous amounts of severed limbs and blood fountains. And the story? Well let's see, all you find out is that the main character (Oh wait, let's make it cool by not letting the audience know her name... yes, that's STYLE! (really, sarcasm) more on style later) is after revenge after she gets her life destroyed by "Bill". So she goes on to kill two of the assassins that killed her. Great. Now what? NOTHING. You don't find out any of the reasons why, you don't find out any of her background (why apparently she can take on 100+ swordsman at once), why Bill wanted to kill her in the first place, etc etc etc. Oh but wait, this is volume 1 after all. It looks like we'll find out the real story in the other volumes. Oh but that's just it isn't it? Tarantino has to go split the movie into multiple parts so that he can make more money. BS. I would expect a little more from him. And what about the style? Oh wait, great style yes. Stupid clown music while everyone's getting dismembered. Yes, now THAT's good movie making. Oh and telling the story mis-sequenced. Hmm... let's see, that's never been done before, so the audience will HAVE to like that. Please... I'd only give 5/10 because there were some good parts, bonus points for bringing in David Carradine, and the fact that I got to see such a poor film before Revolutions in a couple of days. It's going to be so much better now.
