Getting busy ‘round here

Spent the weekend in Toronto (yes, again, I keep having this stupid appointments), and I’m back to find out what this program is all about. You see, I’m taking six courses… yes, that’s right, six, and I can foresee some serious pain. Although I already had two midterms (Algebra and Eco), I still have 5 more to write. Oh boy. My calculus midterm is coming up this Thursday, and the more and more I study, the harder it seems like it’s going to be. Along with that, I have a physics test tomorrow (not hard, but still), an algebra test on Thursday, and a pretty big comp. sci. assignment due on Friday. Then I’m heading home, yet again, for commencement. I’m considering skipping it and studying, but there’s a very strong need for some football with the guys. The guys would probably be pretty cheesed if I didn’t show, but there’s good reason. The weekend after I have another eco midterm (I’m really starting to hate that class for so many reasons), and a 3.5 hour long business midterm the day after. And trust me, that midterm is going to be nothing but anguish. My TA for the business lab tells me the average was in the low 60s last year, and that the 3.5 hours will barely be enough. There’s so much to cover too… ugh… I wish Canada didn’t have to be so stupid with their tax laws. The week after I have my comp sci midterm, and somewhere in between (prof hasn’t said anything about it yet) is my physics midterm. So yeah… all in all I’m going to be pretty roughed up. Ah well, whatever, it’s just school.

Oh, but I must say, the trip home this past weekend was worth it. Gerrome and Jon went to Kingston to visit some friends and were heading back to Toronto on Saturday night. They hadn’t had dinner, so I picked them up and we went to the sushi place next to the office, Sushi Island. Gerrome and Jon (and now I) know the head sushi bar chef there pretty well, so we had a pretty good meal. The two of them go there basically everyday for a meal (Jon does at least), so we got complimentary appetizers, soup and ice cream. The chef, Peter – really nice guy, also made each of us a new maki roll he was trying out. It was basically a salmon skin role, but he had put other things in there, like raw onions, avocado, and some special sauce. Very very good. Gerrome and Jon also requested his special Volcano Maki roll and insisted that it would be “the best freaking sushi you’ve ever had.” My goodness, that’s some freaking good sushi. Yes, quite easily the best I’ve ever had (‘cept for maybe that lobster tempura… but that’s different). Paul, Sarah, you know what I’m talking about. It’s not on the menu though; he only makes it for certain people apparently. Also had a sapporo to see what it was all about. It was alright, had sort of a ricey aftertaste. Jon had some asahi which I though went much better with the sushi due to the dryness. Anyway, you should definitely try this place out. Excellent service, and the prices are very good. It’s on the south side of College, west of Bathurst. “The best freaking sushi you’ve ever had.”
