Finally, the internet is working
Ok, here's what happened. My friend had bought a computer from Dell. With this new computer, you have 2 options. Free internet for a month and you get to keep the dsl modem, or free internet for 3 months and you don't get to keep the modem. All of my housemates here are pretty heavy internet users, so the 10gig cap Bell puts on its clients was going to be a big problem. So there's a local isp that gives dsl service (on the same network as bell) but uncapped and for marginally cheaper. Anyway, the guy my friend bought the computer from was some sort of idiot and didn't know how to fill out a form so that Bell would send out an internet package to us that we should've received last week. So after much trial and tribulation, they finally fixed the problem and sent us a kit. My friend was really chewing the guy out over phone, quite a spectacle actually.
In other news, I was at the Dave Matthews concert last Wednesday. MAN... the show was AMAZING. I've seen and heard other bands live, but this performance blew everything else out of the water. The quality with which they were able to play was just incredible. I have the Live at Folsom Field DVD, and I was really impressed with how they produced that, but I figured the fidelity was probably just due to the recording equipment they had there. My goodness, the sound they produced was unreal. They somehow never seemed to miss a note, even though they must have at various places. Songs like If I had it All and Crash Into Me were so crisp, although, Dave did sing the wrong verse in Crash. Well worth the money. Next time they're in town, I'm there for sure.
My new place is... interesting to say the least. When we say the place last term, it seemed a bit dirty (us thinking that it was due to the people that were living there, and the landlord would clean up most of it like he said he would). But no, it was pretty much in the same state. Thanks to some of my friends parents and G, we cleaned the place up, and it's decent now. I actually had to paint my room 'cause it was a fairly dark red, and I couldn't deal with it. It's now a light shade of blue. We somehow ended up with way too much dinnerware though. We have well over 20 dishes and 20 cups for the four of us. Oh well, I guess we can serve our guests well.... I think I mentioned this before, but one of my friend's dad is a butcher. So, therefore, on the second night we had the luxury of having bacon-wrapped filet mignon (ah... student living at it's best).
More to come, I actually have to go cook dinner. Oh look, we're having steak again.... =P
