Tolerance
I think one of the greatest things I've learned during my stay here in university is the value of tolerance. I have to admit that I have certain beefs with certain people about certain things. You know stuff like how there's always one guy in the class that asks totally irrelevant questions to the prof to try to show how (s)he is smart? Man, lemme tell you about this one guy in my CP264 class... he would ask questions about style and format about his programs and whether or not they would affect his marks. After the prof prompty said, "no", he would keep pushing the issue for the next 5 minutes. He raised this very question in about 3 classes. And other stuff like answering simple questions with way over-complicated replies. But whatever, I've learned to accept that there'll always be people like that (the funny part is that he's like a 4th year student actually in 2nd year courses 'cause he had failed them twice before). Then there's people who just think they're "all that". Bloodclot man, you're not as cool as you think you are, nor do many people want to hear what you have to say (and no, none of you whom read this apply). But again, there'll always be people like that. I'm really glad God has given me the patience in these situations (and many more that I haven't mentioned). They hardly bug me anymore...
Among other things, my courses are shaping up... to be what? Haven't really decided yet. Some of them seem interesting enough. I have a database course that I'm taking that will probably be very useful (CP363). The prof seems like a funny guy, but he warns us that his frequent emails will soon seem like spam. We shall see... I'm also taking a course on microprocessors and assembly languages (CP216). It's probably essential to any cs student. There's going to be some stuff on the PalmOS there too, so I'm looking forward to that. My other two courses (yes, 4 courses again... I'm "lucky" to have taken 6/term last year) are math courses. They're both going to be on the tougher side since they're both sorta new to me, and each prof has their quirks. One is just plain boring.... ugghh so boring (MA205).... and the other (MA238) is really good, knows his stuff, but he goes through the material really quickly. It'll be interesting to see how well and fast I'll be able to write after I'm done with that course.
