So many movies...

Now that I'm back in school, and more importantly, have utilities included in my rent, I've found the time to download movies that I've been meaning to watch but never had the chance to. So here're a couple of quick reviews for you guys... (btw, I by no means claim these reviews to be any good nor unbiased...=Þ)

Supersize Me!
I'd received a lot of warnings about the movie... mainly about how gross it was and how it might completely turn me off of McD's. So did it? Well, no, not really. I mean, the movie had some pretty funny moments like, "yeah, whenever I drive by a fast food place now, I'll punch my kid in the face." (referring to the associative properties that develop at a young age). But all in all, it wasn't that enlightening. I think the defence for that McD's had when they were being sued for causing obesity (that being most people should know that it's not good for you anyway) was a pretty sound one. We all know it's junk, but it's also oh-so-good. Dunno, a decent film... worth watching, but nothing ground-breaking. (And yes, I still eat at McD's... Mmmm... McChicken....) 7/10.

Spiderman 2
Alright, so if you didn't already know, I thought the first of the series was complete garbage, and I didn't really expect much more from this one. Most people that I've spoken to about this movie said that it was a vast improvement over the first. Umm... yeah, I would certainly hope so. So was it? Meh... no, not really. More of the same bad acting, plot holes and predictability. A lot of it just doesn't make sense. Take for example Doc Oc. He knew his only way to find Spiderman was through Peter Parker. But, he didn't at that point in the movie know that PP WAS Spiderman. And yet he still THROWS A CAR AT HIM. Good job, idiots. The same goes for all the times you see spiderman flying around in his costume, only to land and have this street clothes magically appear. Or, the whole premise that nothing had changed about Doc Oc besides his new arms (he's still very human people), and yet he can withstand an absurd about of physical abuse without a scratch to show for it. Oh, and the whole MJ/PP marrying-someone-you-don't-love/homewrecking thing is something I won't even go into. Bottom line, this movie sucks. 3.5/10.

Fahrenheit 9/11
I had been fairly excited about this movie when I first heard about it, but unfortunately I didn't get the chance to see it in theatres. Obviously I had heard many of the reviews and reactions of many different Americans, so I had an idea of what to expect. Was it all it was cracked up to be? Ehh... no, not really. It was very well made, but it didn't have the impact that I thought it would. This was probably because I had high hopes after seeing and loving Bowling for Columbine, but hey, as a director, he'd probably expect people to think that way. It wasn't a bad movie by any means... it just didn't have the same emotional impact taht Bowling did. And just like Supersize Me!, I didn't learn too much that I didn't already know, that being George W. Bush is an idiot and the whole war in Iraq was one big waste of lives and resources. Worth the watch though. 7.5/10.

Stay tuned for more reviews including Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, and I, Robot.
