So... how's work going?

Yes, the quintessential question to all co-ops. Well, it's been a week now since I've started working here at CIBC. It's going... alright. As much as you would expect from the first week of work. Somewhat busy, but there's been some downtime here and there. The first day (last Tuesday) was a training day. It wasn't exactly the most exciting day, if you know what I mean. Lots of seminars and "workshops" on the stuff we'll be doing here. Not terribly interesting stuff since much of it was necessary due to policy, but obvious and common sense. Anyway, we had a free lunch so I guess I can't complain.

I'm here in the office right now. That'd be 33 Yonge St. at Wellington across from BCE place. I'm on the third floor, so the view's not spectacular (no, I don't have a window office, but I'm close enough). And by office I mean cubicle. It's not bad though... I get to use a brand new computer... and actually a laptop too. It was supposed to be temporary until I got my desktop, but I have both now since I didn't feel like giving the laptop back. Hee. The pluses compared to my old job at SLF is that no websites are really blocked, except for web email (argh!). So, I can at least check blogs and write useless stuff like this while I have some free time.

Actually, things haven't been as smooth as I thought they would've been. CIBC has had an established student program for quite some time now, so they have a whole system for integrating students. But for some reason, I got the shaft once again. My email hasn't been set up properly (they messed up my last name), my phone isn't hooked up yet, and I don't have my own security pass. Meh, I guess that means I can't really do as much work as they'd like me to. I also have some pretty good benefits as an employee here too... but you can ask me about that when you talk to me. Anyway, if you want to contact me at work, just call my cell. Especially now that I have unlimited local calling until the end of March. >=D

Right, so I think I've wasted enough time. I think I'll get back to work... (surfing, since my boss is in a meeting).

Oh wait, I have to say this since some of you are probably wondering. I was supposed to go see Russell Peters yesterday at Yuk Yuk's downtown. But alas, something came up and we weren't able to make it down in time to get our reserved tickets. Yeah, you're probably thinking I'm outta my mind for missing the tickets, but the reason is good, so don't be hatin'.
